‘Koi Mil Gaya’ (2003), directed by Rakesh Roshan, is one of the most popular and successful sci-fi movies ever produced in Indian cinema. It featured Hrithik Roshan as an adult but with a child-like personality. It also featured Preity Zinta opposite Hrithik. The second movie in the series was ‘Krrish’ (2006), which also starred Priyanka Chopra and Naseeruddin Shah in significant parts alongside Hrithik Roshan, who essayed the double role of father as well as the son.

The third installment ‘Krrish 3’ was released on Diwali 2013 and following its success, Rakesh Roshan announced the next installment, ‘Krrish 4’. There were buzz that the film would release soon. However due to pre-production and scripting issues, the film was repeatedly delayed. A year ago, it was speculated that the film will be based on a time travel story in which Anil Kapoor will play a negative role and the first part’s character, Jadoo, will also make a prominent appearance.

According to the latest reports, Rakesh Roshan has declined to direct the fourth installment due to health concern and ‘Krrish 4’ will now be directed by Karan Malhotra, who previously directed Hrithik Roshan in ‘Agneepath’ (2012). Filmkraft Productions will produce the film on a grand scale in association with ‘War’ (2019) and ‘Pathaan’ (2023) director Siddharth Anand, who has come on board as the producer. ‘Krrish 4’ is expected to go on floors by next year.
