Parineeta and Mardaani director Pradeep Sarkar passes away at 68

Pradeep Sarkar is no more. The renowned director took his last breath today on March 24 at the age of 68. He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Bandra due to fever. The news was announced by his wife Panchali. According to her, Sarkar caught viral fever on March 22, but even after taking medicines at home, his fever didn’t subside. Hence, he was rushed to hospital. She said, “He passed away between 3.10 am and 3.30 am at Lilavati Hospital.”

“By the time we reached the hospital, his vitals started dropping. He was put on a ventilator in the ICU and was diagnosed with pneumonia. The infection attacked his lungs. According to doctors, he had many comorbidities which weakened his immunity. His blood pressure was fluctuating. Since COVID-19 hit him in July 2022, he was quite weak”, Sarkar’s wife further added.

Pradeep Sarkar made his directorial debut with Vidya Balan-starred ‘Parineeta’ in 2005. Since then, he had given several remarkable films like ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’ (2007), ‘Lafangey Parindey’ (2010), ‘Mardaani’ (2014) and ‘Helicopter Eela’ (2018).

Several members of the Bollywood fraternity like Ajay Devgn, Hansal Mehta, Manoj Bajpayee, ‘Lafangey Parindey’ actor Neil Nitin Mukesh expressed shocked on Sarkar’s sudden death and shared their condolence on social media.
