Lata Mangeshkar passes away at 92

Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar was fighting Covid-19 and her health condition wasn’t stable for the past month. She was suffering from pneumonia after recovering from Covid-19. Yesterday she was put on a ventilator as her condition deteriorated considerably. Doctors mentioned that she was in a delicate condition.

Today morning she passed away due to a multi-organ failure at 8:12 am in Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital at the age of 92. India mourns the demise of the “Queen of Melody”.

Born in Indore she began her career at the age of 13 and in a seven-decade-long career had sung over 30,000 songs in several Indian languages. In 1948, through “Dil Mera Toda” she made her breakthrough in the industry. Her last song was “Saugandh Mujhe Iss Mitti Ki ” in 2021 as a tribute to the Indian Army.

Born in Indore, the “Nightingale of India” is the recipient of several awards including the highest civilian award; Bharat Ratna apart from Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, and multiple National Film Awards.
