‘Jazbaa’ has enjoyed a decent opening weekend at the box office. While the opening day was fair at the Rs. 4.23 crore (Rs. 43.3 million) mark, hence surpassing ‘NH10’ (Rs. 3.35 crore – Rs. 33.5 million) which belonged to a similar genre, the collections saw good escalation on Saturday (Rs. 5.49 crore – Rs. 54.9 million) and Sunday as well. As a result, the opening weekend stands at Rs 15.24 crore (Rs. 152.4 million).

In the process, the film has done better than other films with female central protagonist, be it Bipasha Basu’s ‘Alone’ (Rs. 15 crore – Rs. 150 million), Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Dolly Ki Doli’ (Rs. 15 crore – Rs. 150 million), Sunny Leone’s ‘Ek Paheli Leela’ (Rs. 12 crore – Rs. 120 million) and Anushka Sharma’s ‘NH10’ (Rs. 13.25 crore – Rs. 132.5 million). It is behind a much lighter and universal Piku (Rs. 25.22 crore – Rs. 252.2 million) though, which featured Deepika Padukone and also Irrfan, who is a common factor in the two films.

For Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, this is a much positive start when compared to her last couple of Hindi films – ‘Guzaarish’ (Rs. 13.78 crore – Rs. 137.8 million) and ‘Action Replayy’ (Rs. 14.87 – Rs. 148.7 million), and it is pretty much expected that the first week collections would be better too.

As for the Hindi dubbed version of ‘Rudhramadevi’, it just couldn’t see a good release for itself and the collections were hard to come by as well. The film was not even reviewed and the audience too stayed away. Trade estimates the weekend collections to be at maximum in Rs. 1-2 crore (Rs. 10-20 million) range.

Note: All collections as per production and distributor sources
