After getting cheated by ex-husband Gerard Piqué and instant divorce from a twelve-years of marriage, it’s quite evident pop-star Shakira is going through a rough patch in life currently. Hence as an artist, what could be more peaceful to calm herself down other than music?

Yes, that’s what the 46-year-old singer did to help ease her mind and thoughts amid her separation. Just two months ago, Shakira released her new song “Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 53” in collaboration with Bizarrap, the Argentine DJ, where she openly aimed at the Barcelona footballer with her lyrics.

The song had literally set the internet on fire with verses calling out Piqué and his new girlfriend Clara Chía Martí all over the social media. The lyrics are quite evident of Shakira’s depression as she sang, “Lots of gym work, but work your mind as well,” raps the artist at one point. “You changed a Ferrari for a [Renault] Twingo, a Rolex for a Casio; I’m not coming back to you, not even if you cry or beg me; I’ve outgrown you and that’s why you’re with someone just like you.”

Now after two months, Shakira and Bizarrap had been invited for an interview at ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’, where the duo explained about how the song worked like a relaxation for the singer.

Shakira went on to explain how she was instantly attracted to one of the instrumentals. She said, “It reminded me of Depeche Mode. “If you listen to the song, it’s got a little bit of that cool, dark undertone. I love Depeche Mode. They’re my favourite. I usually have this physical, visceral reaction to music. If you see me two-stepping, things aren’t right.”

While speaking on the massive success of “Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 53”, she expressed her gratitude and said, “I know when a song works because I suddenly start moving. It usually results in my hips moving. I’m waiting for someone to pinch me and wake me up from this dream. It’s unbelievable.”

“People really connect to music when it’s real, it’s genuine and it comes from a real place. The song has become an anthem for so many women. I’ve had a very rough year after my separation and writing this song has been so important to me. It’s been a way to channel my emotions”, Shakira further continued.
