Emraan Hashmi’s Gangster celebrates 17 years; says “I didn’t know the impact it would create would be so big”

Emraan Hashmi has delivered some of the most promising performances and characters during his stint in Bollywood. However, in a streak of memorable performances, ‘Gangster’ definitely leaves a mark. The intense thriller celebrated seventeen years today. Released in 2006, the film marked the debut of National Award-winner Kangana Ranaut and also starred Shiney Ahuja in the lead. Kangana’s character was loved by the audience and also accounts in the history for one of the most promising and powerful performances.

Speaking more about how the actor feels as the film completes seventeen years, Hashmi shared, “The film is a very special for me and I didn’t know the impact it would create would be so big. A big thank you to the audience and my team for making it a classic in Bollywood. This is a film that is very close to my heart and will always be my favourite too.”

‘Gangster’ was Emraan’s third collaboration with director Anurag Basu. The movie was a commercial success and received critical acclaim for its performances, direction and music.

Recently, Emraan was seen playing yet another powerful role in ‘Selfiee’ (2023) along with Akshay Kumar, where he was seen essaying the role of a common man and a police officer. Up next, Emraan is all set for ‘Tiger 3’ besides Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
