2022 has been quite a disruptive year as countless films struck our intrigue. Compelling storylines & a power-packed cast, this year gave us fabulous films to binge. These films didn’t just give us a jaw-drop but also made quite an impact in Bollywood.

Mili

Janhvi Kapoor’s breathtaking performance in the survival thriller-drama kept us on edge of the seat till the last minute. Directed by Mathukutty Xavier, the film stands as a perfect match if you love thrillers. Kapoor’s performance is a sheer delight to watch on the big screen as survivor Mili Naudiyal with absolute rawness. The plot revolves around a 25-year-old Mili Naudiyal, who accidentally gets stuck in a freezer. The story advances as she struggles for her life. Highlighting a fighting spirit and the desire to live, ‘Mili’ is still stuck in our minds.

Raksha Bandhan

This Aanand L. Rai directorial made us fall in one embrace with our family. A perfect family entertainer, Raksha Bandhan is such an occasion in India, that savors the sweet bond between a brother and a sister. It portrays the struggle of a brother to raise his sisters and get them married eventually. Akshay Kumar perfectly plays the Indian brother and makes us tearful. The film aptly highlights an important subject, dowry and gives us so many lessons to learn. The director’s sentimental yet realistic approach won many hearts.

Drishyam 2

A sequel to the blockbuster film ‘Drishyam’ (2015), the film stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Akshaye Khanna and Ishita Dutta. The film opened strong at the box office and went on to collect well over Rs. 150 Crore during its theatrical run. It’s a remake of the 2021 Malayalam namesake film.

Rocketry: The Nambi Effect

The biographical drama inspired by the life of Nambi Narayanan, a scientist who worked with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and was accused of espionage but was later exonerated. The film stars R Madhavan as Nambi Narayanan and received critical as well as audience appreciation for bringing into light one of the lesser known stories.

Gangubai Kathiawadi

The film is a biographical crime drama starring Alia Bhatt in the lead and is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie also stars Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles. Gangubai is loosely based on the true story of Ganga Jagjivandas Kathiawadi, popularly known as Gangubai Kothewali. Bhatt’s performance blew every viewer’s minds and Bhatt was showered with praised for adapting every aspect beautifully on-screen.

Chup: Revenge Of The Artist

The psychological thriller led by Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salman and Shreya Dhanwantry came as a stunning delivery by director R Balki. The story rotates around a man who becomes a psychopath serial killer because of his childhood turmoil and trauma because of his father. The star cast kept every scene finely delivered and absolutely engaging. This what a difference the correct star cast makes on the film. The director knows how to score an A with such compelling stories.
