Gangubai Kathiawadi clocks 1 year: Shantanu Maheshwari expresses gratitude to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt

Shanatanu Maheswari celebrated one year of his blockbuster debut ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ (2022) today. Starring opposite Alia Bhatt, the actor played the role of Afsaan, who sewed love into the ruthless life of Gangubai. The movie also starred Ajay Devgn, Vijay Raaz, Jim Sarab and Seema Pahwa in pivotal roles.

On the occasion of the film’s one year anniversary, Shantanu took to social media to extend his gratitude towards his director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, co-star Alia Bhatt and cinematographer Sudeep Chatterjee and shared a mereged video of few clips from the film and behind-the-scene pictures. He wrote in the caption, “It feels like it all happened yesterday but it’s been a year now… what a life changing experience this movie has been for me… right from not expecting anything to living small moments during the whole process… to doubting if it’s really happening for me… to learning from the legends #sanjayleelabhansali sir @sudeepchatterjee.isc sir and @aliaabhatt … it’s been a fabulous journey… it’s not just a film for me but an emotion (I know cliche- but while typing is when I realised the depth of this line). Thank you everyone for showering so much love… taking so much efforts to make edits, cards, in-depth captions & and what not… Dil se thank you. ‘Gangubai Kathaiwadi’ is a story about a young girl, who is duped and sold to a brothel, but reclaims her power, using underworld connections to preside over the world where was once a pawn. The film is adapted from author Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queen Of Mumbai.
