Barbie outshines Titanic and Avatar in Ireland; emerges as the top grossing film in the European country

With each passing day, the achievements of ‘Barbie’ continue to grow. Not long ago, the film surpassed the $1 Billion mark at the global box office. This is the first such film to cross the mark, that too directed by a woman. And now, it has pulled off another achievement.

The Greta Gerwig directorial has become the all-time box office winner with a collection of €8.85 million in Ireland. Moreover, it has surpassed ‘Titanic’ (1997), which collected €8.39 million and ‘Avatar’ (2009), which collected €8.75 million in the European country. Both films, directed by James Cameron, were in the top position of all-time top 10 films chart.

According to Variety, currently ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (2021) is in the fourth place with €7.57 million in the all-time list, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ (2015) at the fifth position with €6.76 million, ‘The Lion King’ (2019) at the sixth position with €6.55 million, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019) at the seventh position with €6.42 million, ‘Joker’ (2019) at the eighth position with €6.4 million, ‘Mamma Mia!’ (2008) at the ninth position with €6.39 million and ‘The Dark Knight’ (2008) at the tenth position with €6.31 million.

On the other hand, Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ surpassed ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ as it earned €5.57 million and thus became the second highest grosser of 2023 in Ireland.
