One of the much awaited multi-starrer film ‘Babylon’ recently got an early screening on November 14 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills and has already achieved massive reactions.

The 188-minutes historical drama features a tale of outsized ambition and outrageous excess. It traces the rise and fall of multiple characters during an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood. The film comprises actors such as Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Tobey Maguire, Diego Calva, Justin Hurwitz, Li Jun Li, Jean Smart, Samara Weaving, Olivia Wilde, Phoebe Tonkin and Max Minghella.

‘Babylon’ marks the return of director Damien Chazelle, who was the youngest Oscar winner for his film ‘La La Land’ in 2016. The film is highly inspired by Federico Fellini’s film ‘La Dolce Vita’ (1960) and Robert Altman’s film ‘Nashville’ (1975).

After the screening, ‘Babylon’ got very positive reactions and reviews which flooded Twitter. The tweet of the Variety editor Clayton Davis’ indicates that he has absolutely fallen for it as he has described it as a high octane film. He also added, “First half is great. Likely the internet’s new favorite movie of all-time. Margot Robbie and Justin Hurwitz are your stars”.

Other Twitter users, too, seemed to have loved the film. One user said that ‘Babylon’ is absolutely monstrous and also added that according to him, Chazelle might be the most confident director in today’s Hollywood. Another wrote, “‘Babylon’ is just like a fever dream of a movie that’s best when it’s being a straight out comedy.”

Although the social media is filled with ‘Babylon’s reviews, according to Variety, Paramount Pictures has not set an embargo date for full reviews.

Paramount Pictures has currently planned to release ‘Babylon’ in limited theatres on December 23, during Christmas, and will release it worldwide in January 2023.
