In 2009, the box office smashing hit otherworldly sci-fi epic ‘Avatar’ was released in the theatres. It managed to break all records as became the biggest movie in history collecting $2.85 billion in global ticket sales.

After so many years the taste of the audience has changed and it’s not certain if the sequel ‘The Way Of Water’ will create a similar impact. It’s all set to be released on December 16 this year. But keeping in mind the work of the filmmaker James Cameron, everything is a possibility.

“After 13 years, we’re in a different world now, where superheroes dominate the fantasy action space,” says David A. Gross, who runs the movie consulting firm Franchise Entertainment Research.

This movie brings back Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana and also features Kate Winslet and Michelle Yeoh. “Expectations are going to be much higher than the usual $1 billion threshold most A-tier blockbusters chase, especially with the inevitable ticket price boost from 3D and premium screens around the world,” says Shawn Robbins, the chief analyst at Box Office Pro.
