Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) spy universe is arguably the biggest Indian film franchise. The universe that began with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012) continued with ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ (2017), followed by Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff-starrer ‘War’ (2019). ‘Pathaan’ (2023), which stars Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in lead roles, has been the fourth film in this series.
Every film of the spy universe wrote history at the box office, and the stupendous success of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer has taken the future of the universe to a massive level. And now, Aditya Chopra is planning to take the universe on a big scale with upcoming movies in the spy thriller world. Reportedly, it is learned that the makers are planning a two-hero film with Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan which film feature a face-off between Tiger and Pathaan. The film will see both actors locking horns against each other and is in its initial stages.
A strong buzz is going around that YRF is planning to make a second installment of ‘War’. As per a report, Aditya Chopra and writer Shridhar Raghavan have finished the scripting, and the film is expected to go into production at the end of this year. The sequel will see Hrithik returning as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, and it is expected that the makers will rope in a new director to direct the sequel.
Talking about Hrithik, he is currently shooting for his upcoming aerial action thriller, ‘Fighter’, which marks his reunion with director Siddharth Anand for the third time. The film, which also stars Deepika Padukone as the female lead and Anil Kapoor, is scheduled to release in cinemas on January 25, 2024.
