We all know Taylor Swift as one of the top most well-known singers and songwriters in Hollywood, who has given multiple genre music. Her narrative songwriting, which are often inspired by her personal life, has earned her critical praises, as well as a huge fan following. The 32-year-old singer is currently one of the world’s highest paid celebrities too.

Recently on June 11, Swift appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival as a director, as she has taken the role in her previous works by helming music videos like “All Too Well” in 2012, a soundtrack of 15-minute version of the namesake and “The Man” in 2019. While talking to director, Mike Mills, Taylor opened up about her long desire and how she moved into directing.

Taylor said that she started writing elaborate treatments for her videos about 10 years ago, “It started with meddling. It felt very natural to extend writing a song and visualizing it in my head to making a shot list and storyboarding it and picking who we wanted as the head of each department and who would help put all of this puzzle together.”

But she explained that she begun directing “The Man” almost out of necessity and said, “My first instinct was to write the treatment and send it out. I wanted a female director to direct it and all of my favorite female directors were booked and busy, which is great. We love that. That’s fantastic. So I just figured maybe I could do it.”

While accepting the fact that she is still learning, Swift said she would love to direct a feature film in future, “It would be so fantastic to write and direct a feature. I don’t see it being bigger in terms of scale. I loved making a film that was so intimate with a group that was really small and a really solid group of people that I trusted.”

In the end, Swift offered some advice for those, who are undergoing a tough time in the industry and assured that they should not get demotivated as timing and perspective is crucial, which will ultimately help them in long run.
