‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022) ascended to new heights at the box office. While the whole Hollywood industry couldn’t stop praising the aerial entertainer for its success, renowned director Steven Spielberg has now joined the list by immensely praising mostly Tom Cruise for the success.

Recently Spielberg and Cruise reunited at the Oscar 2023’s nominee luncheon, where the director couldn’t stop applauding the actor. The duo has previously worked in two projects, ‘Minority Report’ (2002) and ‘War Of The Worlds’ (2005), which were also hits.

Not only Spielberg praised Cruise’s acting, but he also gave him all the credits for saving Hollywood’s box office business. According to Variety, the director gave a big hug to Cruise at the event and shared, “You saved Hollywood’s ass and you might have saved theatrical distribution. Seriously, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ might have saved the entire theatrical industry.”

Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise are nominated for the Oscars this year for their films, ‘The Fabelmans’ (2022) and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022).

‘Top Gun: Maverick’ has been the second film that grossed $1.48 billion at the box office worldwide, after ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ (2021). With such collections, the film now ranks the eleventh highest grossing film in the history across the world.
