Saajan completes 30 years of its release

‘Saajan’, directed by Lawrence D’Souza was released on 30th August, 1991 and became one of the biggest hits of ‘90s era. It stars Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan in the lead roles.

The film chronicles about two brother-like friends Aman (Sanjay Dutt) and Akash (Salman Khan), who fall in love with the same girl, Pooja (Madhuri Dixit). While both of them are willing to sacrifice their love for the sake of their friendship, Pooja must make her decision.

Madhuri Dixit Nene has gained critical acclaims and popularity from ‘Saajan’ along with films like ‘Tezaab’ (1988) and ‘Dil’ (1990). Though Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt have worked together before in films like ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ (1988), ‘Ilaaka’ (1989) and ‘Kanoon Apna Apna’ (1989) but ‘Saajan’ is the film, where they both are captured as a romantic couple.

The film is still remembered after years for its romantic soundtrack, which was composed by Nadeem-Shravan and lyrics penned by Sameer. “Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Paagal Hai” sung by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik, “Bahut Pyaar Karte Hai” sung by SP Balasubramanyam (male version) and Anuradha Paudwal (female version) and “Dekha Hai Pehli Baar” sung by SP Balasubramanyam and Alka Yagnik, these three songs basically made the film a superhit.

Madhuri Dixit Nene took to her Instagram yesterday and shared a video with Urmila Matondkar singing the song “Too Shayar Hai Main Teri Shayari” sung by Alka Yagnik and thanked Urmila for celebrating 30 years of ‘Saajan’ with her in the caption.
