Helmed by Kundan Shah, ‘Dil Hai Tumhara’ (2002) completes 18 years of its release. Although the film didn’t do well at the box office, the story and screenplay were very contemporary. Kundan Shah and Rajkumar Santoshi are credited for the screenplay. On the occasion of its 18 years after release, Preity was nostalgic and had taken to her social media to share about it. This was her second film with Late Kundan Shah after ‘Kya Kehna’ (2000). She had mentioned in the post that Shah was not just a director but a mentor to her.

Preity’s performance was critically acclaimed by the audience and she won the Screen Awards for Best Actress. She was shot to success after this movie. The Hindi romantic drama featured Arjun Rampal, Preity Zinta and Mahima Chaudhry in lead roles. It also starred Jimmy Shergill, Alok Nath and Rekha.

The movie revolves around the knot of love in a family and the maze of relationships and infidelity. Love and acceptance play an important role in plot twists. Priety and Mahima played the role of half-sisters who loved each other dearly and would sacrifice everything for the other’s sake. Priety was born out of wedlock and Rekha despised her but in the end, they grew close. As plots unfold the intensity of the emotions are witnessed.

The track “Dil Laga Liya Maine” has the same composition as that of “Boohay Barian” by the Pakistani composer Hadiqa Kiani. Alka Yagnik, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan dominated the songs. Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Kavita Krishnamurthy also lent voice to the tracks.
