Born on May 22, 1911, he was instrumental in developing and securing the success of Wadia Movietone productions, which he co-founded in 1933. Following the closure of Wadia Movietone, Homi Wadia expanded his business by establishing Basant Pictures in 1942.

He directed more than forty films over the course of a five-decade career, including notable ones like ‘Hunterwali’ (1935), ‘Miss Frontier Mail’ (1936), ‘Diamond Queen’ (1940), ‘Shri Ram Bhakta Hanuman’ (1948), ‘Hatim Tai’ (1956), ‘Alibaba And 40 Thieves’ (1966), etc.

In addition to his artistic achievements, Homi Wadia was also a founder member of the Film & Television Producers Guild of India, which was founded in 1954.

He was also the spouse of actress and stuntwoman Fearless Nadia, as well as the younger brother of JBH Wadia, a well-known film director. Today, on his 112th birthday, we honour Homi Wadia’s significant excellence and persistent contributions to Indian cinema.
