The festival, known for its celebration of Indian cinema on an international platform, has consistently showcased exceptional films in the past, including blockbusters like ‘Baahubali’ (2015), ‘M S Dhoni: The Untold Story’ (2016), ‘Neerja’ (2016), ‘Kapoor & Sons’ (2016) and ‘Dangal’ (2016). Adding to this illustrious line-up, ‘Ghoomer’ brings together an incredible ensemble cast under the expert direction of R Balki with Bachchan at the forefront.

R Balki is celebrated for his unique vision and ability to deliver thought-provoking narratives. With a string of critically acclaimed films to his credit, including ‘Cheeni Kum’ (2007), ‘Paa’ (2009) and ‘Pad Man’ (2018), Balki has carved a niche for himself in the Indian film industry. His films often explore unconventional subjects and challenge societal norms, resonating with audiences on both intellectual and emotional levels.

While talking about ‘Ghoomer’s premiere, R Balki said, “It’s indeed an honour and pleasure for us that ‘Ghoomer’ will be the opening film at the IFFM. ‘Ghoomer’ is a story of turning adversity into advantage. It is a tribute to sports and the reservoir of human resilience. It’s only fitting for a film that believes that ‘sport makes life worth living’ will be launched in the Sports capital of the world, Australia, the land of the MCG.”

As ‘Ghoomer’ takes centre stage at the IFFM, audiences can expect a unique cinematic experience that transcends boundaries and immerses them in the world of Balki’s vision. ‘Ghoomer’ stars Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher.
