Written and directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the Yash Raj film production ‘Prithviraj’ depicts the really expensive epic war between Rajput king Prithviraj Chauhan and Mohammed Ghori. The music is composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy which marks their third-period drama project after ‘Chittagong’ (2012) and ‘Manikarnika’ (2019).

The album opens with the song “Hari Har” which glorifies the life and achievements of Prithviraj. It’s like a war cry that pumps the listeners with energy. It’s grand and creates a strong impact with Indianised musical instruments and a powerful chorus. The vocals of Adarsh Sinde is pitch-perfect singing the praise of the great king. The lyrics are by Varun Grover which are subtle and well-composed.

“Hadd Kar De” is not a typical folk song expressing joy but one composed with classical beats and a contemporary tempo. Neeti Mohan and Keerthi Sangathia sing the song with a powerful chorus to support them. With visuals, the music will create much more impact.

The next track “Makhmali” is a romantic number, sung by Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. The singers speak for themselves and much before listening to the song, one would know how beautiful this song would be. The wonderful composition and arrangement of the song make it an amazing love anthem.

Sunidhi Chauhan’s “Yoddha” is a powerful song that stirs all emotions. The use of instruments is the best, giving it a grand vibe. One gets that typical Rajput feel while listening to this song.

“Aigiri Nandini” by Alap Desai is another powerful song full of patriotism but the upbeats, in the beginning, feel a bit extra. Although the song is very strong and beautifully composed, the music arrangement doesn’t land well. The lyrics however are very well penned.

Prithviraj and Sanyogita themes in the album are just beautiful, giving the album an amazing end. Overall all the songs depict the vigour and grandeur of this period drama.
