Kate Winslet’s pale pink overcoat used in Titanic to be auctioned; expected to fetch million dollars

Remember that iconic pale pink coloured overcoat, which was worn by Kate Winslet during the sinking scenes of ‘Titanic’ (1997)? It is now up for auction in the US. The coat was donned in the iconic scene when Rose (Kate Winslet) tries to fee Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) from the floating wooden deck, after he dies due to freezing in Atlantic Ocean’s cold temperature.

Ken Goldin, the founder and CEO of the auction house Goldin, stated, “It’s definitely a six-figure piece. It’s going to go for $100,000 plus.” According to few sources, five people have already made offers, with the highest being $34,000.

Interestingly it has been revealed that the coat still has water stains on it as it was worn by the actress when she was filming in the water. Deborah Lynn Scott won an Oscar for Best Costume Design for ‘Titanic’. (1997). It’s been reported that the designer made the coat with pink wool and black embroidery. The coat was created by retailer, J. Peterman Company.

‘Titanic’ is the first billion-dollar film ever in history, collecting $1.84 billion at the box office. It won eleven awards at the Oscars, including Best Costume Design in 1998.
