Karthi opens up on the mixed response to Ponniyin Selvan 1; admits the Hindi speaking audience found it difficult to connect with the narrative

‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’, Mani Ratnam’s period drama, is set to release in theatres globally on April 28. The trailer, which was released last month, was well received by the audiences and the team has already begun promoting the movie. But what raised eyebrows during the promotions is the statement made by its lead actor Karthi.

Karthi stated that the addition of so many characters made the first part of the film difficult to understand for the Hindi audiences. He added that reading a story with so many characters can also be complicated and that by coming to the tenth page, one would might even forget about a few characters.

Given that the fact Hindi-speaking audiences gave the film thumbs up post its release on digital platform, Karthi hopes that the sequel will perform better than the first one.

‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ stars Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Prakash Raj in lead roles.
