One of Hollywood’s most popular gen-Z pop-stars, Justin Bieber posted a video on Instagram Friday, June 10 and announced an important news to his fans that he has recently been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which caused him partial face paralysis. He has also announced that due to the illness, he is currently postponing his Justice World Tour, just few hours before his Toronto concert was about to begin.

Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV), the same virus that causes chickenpox in children and shingles (herpes zoster) in adults. In cases of Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, previously inactive (dormant) varicella-zoster virus is reactivated and spreads to affect the facial nerve.

As fans were quite disappointed for cancelling the tour without any announcement before, they took their rages out on social media. Bieber posted the video, where he explained the whole thing and his condition and said, “As you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face, this nostril will not move. So there is full paralysis on this side of my face. For those, who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically, obviously, not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious, as you can see.”

The 28-year-old singer promised that he is doing facial exercises everyday and is undergoing several therapies and taking some time to rest. He also assured that he will definitely get back to his work, which he is born to do, one hundred percent.

Although Bieber did not give any estimated time of his recovery, fans have flooded wishing him speedy recovery in the comments. This is the third time Bieber’s world tour has been postponed. The first two were postponed due to the pandemic.
