Indian Folk band Swarathma takes the stage on #WeekendLive with Zoom TV & Oaksmith®️ Gold Glasses

Riding on the success of past weekends, Zoom TV and Oaksmith®️ Gold Glasses bring #WeekendLive this Sunday, featuring the Bengaluru based folk band – Swarathma

#WeekendLive is a collaborative effort between the leading entertainment channel Zoom TV, and new to India’s very happening music and performances scene, Oaksmith®️ Gold Glasses (@OaksmithGoldIndia on Facebook & Instagram). As many live shows cancel, platforms like #WeekendLive are pioneering efforts to build a work-from-home culture for the artists, and giving roots to an emerging format for live music with #StayHome – House Concerts.

#WeekendLive leverages the “Live” feature of popular social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, as some of India’s top talents perform from the safety of their homes, straight to that of their audiences.

From featuring on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine’s India edition along to being listed on their list of 25 Hottest Indian Bands, this band has swept listeners off their feet for over a decade. Their musical symphony and sounds draw inspiration from Indian folk and classical music, blending it with Western sounds like blues rock and reggae. The lyrical journey of this band’s music is inspired by personal journeys and also fuses the current social and political themes and causes. In the year 2009, this band swept the annual Jack Daniels Indian Rock Awards, winning Band, Song and Album of the Year. With many accolades and critical appreciation, the band has garnered love from the listeners, not only within the country but also globally in countries like Morocco, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong to name a few, making them one of India’s biggest and favourite folk rock bands.

Their outspoken, honest and raw music features collaborations with music’s biggest names such as Bassement Jaxx, Salim-Sulaiman, Shubha Mugdal & Clinton Cerejo. Their collaborative music style, their social consciousness and activism and their thought pondering lyrical music has surely given the band its longevity. This weekend get ready to submerge in this band’s infectious on-stage energy!

Vasu will be representing the band this Sunday. His open-throated voice is a free-spirited celebration of life – whether he sings with his band VDC, Swarathma or on his own. A composer, musician and filmmaker in equal measure his craft brings many nuances of art into one space.

Going by the response to last few editions, #WeekendLive has been a hit, with over 17 million viewers watching the riveting performances – by Indian Ocean, India’s most celebrated and iconic rock band, Deveshi Sahgal, the very talented sufi singer, the iconic Rajasthani folk musician and internationally renowned, Kutle Khan Project, the very versatile singer songwriter Jasleen Aulakh , the leading Indie-Rock Band Faridkot and Legendary rock band Parikrama, Eminent Sufiyana Vocalist Dhruv Sangari, Illustrious guitarist and singer Dhruv Viswanath.
