Who doesn’t know about Hugh Jackman! As Wolverine, he left a huge mark among the fans worldwide. After collaborating with directors like Christopher Nolan, Baz Luhrmann, etc., Hugh has become an integral part of popular culture.

Although he has stepped out from Wolverine’s role five years ago after ‘Logan’ (2017), just few months ago, Hugh had surprised fans with another exciting news that he has bagged ‘Deadpool 3’ along with Ryan Reynolds.

However, apart from impressing us in superhero films, the actor also stunned us in Florian Zeller’s ‘The Son’, which was released on November 25, 2022.

Recently in an interview with BBC, Hugh got candid about his experience working in ‘The Son’. He revealed that the film’s producers had hired psychiatrists to stay on set for the cast and crew if they needed to talk. He said, “This was the first time I would ever see such a thing on a film set and people used it and it was necessary.”

‘The Son’ deals with the topic of depression. The story revolves around 17-year-old Nicholas (Zen McGrath), whose growing mental health struggle begins to impact the lives of his parents, including his New York lawyer father Peter (Jackman) and mother Kate (Laura Dern). Nicholas proceeds to blame his parents’ divorce and Peter’s recent baby with new partner Beth (Vanessa Kirby) for his declining condition.

Jackman further shared that if intimacy coaches are hired for intimacy scenes in films, then why not for mental health issues? He believes that mental health support is needed as well, especially in movies featuring such difficult material.

Hugh also shared that he had consulted a psychiatrist while filming ‘The Son’, as the experience took a toll on his mental health and heightened his anxiety because of his father’s death during the shooting and also returning after so long on the sets post pandemic.
