It is well known to everyone that there are two films on wrestling being made this year. First, Salman Khan starrer ‘Sultan’ which narrates the struggling life of a wrestler and releases in Eid. And second is Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ which tells the story of wrestler father-daughter, releases in Christmas weekend.

However Ali Abbas Zafar, the director of ‘Sultan’ says that Aamir Khan’s wrestling drama will be the best film of this year, not his own movie based on the same sport. When asked about ‘Dangal’, he said, “I personally think it will be the best film this year. It is not about modesty. I just feel it is a strong story worth telling. I am not saying Sultan isn’t. Dangal is a story that I think is very important. Which is why I say this year’s best film will be Dangal, no matter what. Just for the sheer honesty of what that story is trying to do.”

Ali feels ‘Dangal’ is a story which must be told. “As a filmmaker, as a writer, you feel like ek kahani hai jo banni hi chahiye. Like Talvar and many others… So many films make money, but there are some scripts about which you feel, ‘Arre yaar, yeh mere paas kyu nahi aayi?’ I would have loved to make a film like this. I feel Dangal is a film which this country needs today.”

Also starring Anushka Sharma and Randeep Hooda, ‘Sultan’ is slated to release on July 6, 2016.
