Alia Bhatt’s supremacy is all over the screen in the entire 3-minute trailer that the makers dropped today. From a teenage timid girl to a middle-aged mature woman, she rules the screen time. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial again showcases a strong female character. The trailer shows the journey of a young girl sold in a brothel who manages to emerge as a political leader of the area and head of the brothel.
The theme deals with prostitution and how children of sex workers are neglected and treated as lesser humans. Alia shows her resilience in her fight for the rights of all sex workers. She is bold, fierce, strong and fearless. There are hurdles and taunts suppressing her success but she emerges victorious every single time with her wit and strength of character.
Ajay Devgn plays mafia don Karim Lala who is linked with Gangubai but their relationship isn’t revealed. He has a very strong screen presence too. There are glimpses of Vijay Raaz, Jim Sarbh and Seema Pahwa too in the trailer.
With the world premiere at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, the movie is slated to release on 25th February 2022.
