Akshay Kumar who started the year with ‘Baby’ delivers back again with ‘Gabbar Is Back’. So far, 2015 hasn’t been good for business with ‘Roy’ being the only film to cross the Rs. 10 crore mark but the movie crashed heavily after a few days. The actor who makes a few movies per year, with the right economics in mind, has managed to bring a large part of the audience back to the theatres again, registering the best Friday opening of the year (Rs. 13 crore) and a superb weekend crossing the Rs. 40 crore mark.

Considering the number of flops seen since the start of the year, this is really good news for Bollywood. However, there seem to be a bunch of self-esteemed critics who have lost touch the reality and bashed the movie while the ‘aam junta’ looking for their Friday’s dose of entertainment lapped the movie. The box office’s figures speak for themselves and some critics have failed to see the entertainment value in ‘Gabbar Is Back’. Directed by Krish which marks his first film in Bollywood after successful years in the South, the movie is expected to enjoy a good first week and then penetrate well into the second week as well.

‘Sabki Bajegi Band’ – the second release of the week, vanished without a trace.
