Did Rohit Shetty actually ‘pay back’ Salman Khan by shifting Sooryavanshi to a March 2020 release?

Since the last few days, a lot has been said and written about Akshay Kumar’s upcoming venture, ‘Sooryavanshi’ which is being directed by Rohit Shetty. The main reason behind this, being the change of the release date of the movie from Eid 2020 to 27 March 2020.

What’s more surprising is that the announcement happened in the most unique way possible and without Akshay Kumar anywhere around it. Not Rohit Shetty, not Akshay Kumar but it was Salman Khan who actually tweeted a picture of him with Rohit Shetty.

Rohit too replied in the sweetest way possible as he called Salman his ‘family’ and added that people can compete with everyone but not with their ‘families’.

A section of fans naturally got excited seeing ‘Bhai’ (Salman Khan) and Rohit Shetty together as they speculated Salman Khan having a cameo in ‘Sooryavanshi’. But somehow this didn’t go down well with another section of Akshay Kumar fans who thought that their favorite superstar actually gave in to the apparent ‘demands’ of Salman Khan.

The real reason why ‘Sooryavanshi’ has been preponed is to fit in Salman Khan’s comeback film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali alongside Alia Bhatt, titled ‘Inshallah’. Even if it was just a humble gesture from Rohit Shetty’s end to shift his film’s release date to accommodate Salman’s movie, fans took it in a negative way and started a negative trend against Akshay Kumar and ‘Sooryavanshi’ so that people boycott the film.

A desperate Akshay Kumar realizing the depth of the situation got into damage control mode and requested people not to spread negativity about Sooryavanshi with this post.

Currently, everyone is busy calling Rohit Shetty and Akshay Kumar ‘weak’ in front of the ‘dominant’ Salman Khan. But what if something is brought to people’s attention which will instantly make Rohit Shetty a ‘hero’ instead of a ‘submissive villain’ ?

What people don’t realize or have primarily forgotten about Rohit Shetty is the fact that not Rohit but it was Salman Khan himself who had first shifted his film’s release date earlier to accomodate the release of Rohit Shetty’s film before his own film.

Everyone remembers Rohit Shetty’s superhit movie ‘Chennai Express’ (2013) with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone as the lead. But what people don’t know is the fact that Salman Khan’s ‘Jai Ho’ (2014) had already booked the date earlier on which ‘Chennai Express’ had eventually released. As per Rohit’s request, it was Salman who shifted the release of ‘Jai Ho’ in 2014 from 2013 to avoid the clash between the two biggest superstars, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Salman has himself casually gone on record at the ‘Big Star Entertainment Awards’ show in 2014 which he hosted as well saying that he shifted the release date of his film, ‘Jai Ho’ (2014) for his ‘brother’, Rohit.

Five years down the line, Rohit Shetty henceforth decided to do his bit for Salman Khan as it was his turn to let Salman accommodate his movie on the day he wished which is ‘Eid 2020’. Henceforth, it was more of a ‘kind’ ‘pay back’ rather than a submissive stance from Rohit’s end.

Well, in a competitive industry like the Hindi film industry, if there’s display of such mutual camaraderie and friendship between the biggest names who are always taking care of each other’s personal and professional interests all the time, it’s actually nobody’s loss but definitely the industry’s gain and in a big way.
