Bollywood lends its support to Jammu and Kashmir film policy

Kashmir is the pinnacle of scenic beauty with snow clad mountains extending into breathtaking valleys. Few decades back, Kashmir used to host the filmmakers and talents from the Hindi film industry as they swarmed to the place for extended shooting schedules. However, it witnessed a gradual decline in filming and photography activities as the fraternity flocked to overseas locations to explore and portray the geography to the Indian audience and the diaspora from around the globe.

But, now Bollywood has come together to boost film production in the newly created Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Members of the fraternity like Aamir Khan, Raj Kumar Hirani and Mahaveer Jain recently spoke at an event following the announcement of Jammu and Kashmir’s Film Policy 2021. They shared anecdotes and what it used to be like filming in Kashmir, as they visited down the memory lane and also shed light on the roadmap ahead. The event was marked by the presence of Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha.
