Ana De Armas, who portrayed the titular role of Marilyn Monroe in her last film ‘Blonde’ (2022), has garnered immense appreciation from critics as well as audiences. Not only that, the actress has also achieved an Oscar nomination for the film this year.

The Andrew Dominik-directorial throws light on the real life of Marilyn, from debuting in the industry, to being the most loved sex symbol, her life struggles, her passion for her work, etc. Hence, after working in such a prodigious project, Armas sees several similarities between herself and the Hollywood icon. According to her, there will never be another movie star like Marilyn Monroe, or maybe any movie stars at all.

During an interview with Vanity Fair’s 29th annual Hollywood issue, Armas shared, “I feel like the new generations don’t have that concept because of social media. There is so much information out there and oversharing. The concept of a movie star is someone untouchable you only see onscreen. That mystery is gone. For the most part, we have done that to ourselves. Nobody is keeping anything from anyone anymore.”

Armas shared if we put aside Marilyn Monroe as a star, she was just an actress who was navigating life and the industry, while struggling through her trauma. She further explained, “I truly thought it was going to do justice to a more dimensional human being, because I wouldn’t want to be remembered just for one thing. I am more than just an actress on the cover of a magazine.”

While talking about her work in ‘Blonde’, Armas shared an interesting thing that, “The sad part and the most challenging thing for me is to see not only what happened in the ‘40s and ’50s and ’60s but to see patterns continue to happen.”
