Marilyn Monroe was one of the most iconic actresses in the ‘50s and is considered to be one of the most popular sex symbols, generations after generations as well as an emblem of the era’s sexual revolution. She was a top paid actress for a decade in the late ‘50s to early ‘60s and her films had grossed $200 million till her death in 1962. Not only as an actress, but Monroe was a terrific singer too and even long after her death, she still remains a major icon of pop culture. Thus she is one of the greatest legends from the golden age of Hollywood.

Remembering her life, this year, director Andrew Dominik is bringing Marilyn Monroe’s biopic named, ‘Blonde’. The titular role is portrayed by Ana de Armas and the first photo of Armas as Monroe made several headlines on social media. As a result, ‘Blonde’ has now became one of the most anticipated films of 2022.

Recently, in an interview with Vulture, the director Andrew Dominik has divulged about the film and shared, “It’s a film that definitely has a morality about it. But it swims in very ambiguous waters because I don’t think it will be as cut-and-dried as people want to see it…There’s something in it to offend everyone.”

Talking about Dominik, Ana de Armas, who has recently given a fine performance in ‘The Gray Man’ (2022), shared, “Ambitions were very clear from the start to present a version of Marilyn Monroe’s life through her lens. He wanted the world to experience what it actually felt like to not only be Marilyn Monroe, but also Norma Jeane Mortenson (Marliyn Monroe’s real name). I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen.”

The story of ‘Blonde’ is adapted from author, Joyce Carol Oates’ namesake novel, which was published in 2000. Starring Ana de Armas, Adrien Brody, Sara Paxton, Bobby Cannavale, Xavier Samuel, Julianne Nicholson and Rebecca Wisocky, ‘Blonde’ is going have a Netflix release on September 23, 2022.
