‘Bajirao Mastani’ had a fantastic third weekend and brought in Rs. 200.5 million. It benefitted immensely from the 1st January holiday as Rs. 75 million more came in that day. With Saturday and Sunday showing very good hold as well, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film has managed a record run with collections staying over the Rs. 50 million mark for 18 days in succession, ever since its release.

This is a huge success for a film that started with a Rs. 128 million opening day and hasn’t looked back ever since. With around Rs. 1.6235 billion to its name already, the film is now a clear Hit. In the process, it has also surpassed ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ (Rs. 1.52 billion), hence turning out to be Eros’ second biggest grosser ever after Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs. 3.21 billion).

With this, while it has now emerged as the third biggest grosser of 2015 (after ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ (Rs. 2.10 billion)), the Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra starrer has also cemented its place amongst the Top-15 grossers of all time.

The film is now set to enjoy good weekdays too and with ‘Wazir’ as the only competition next week, it would be interesting to see how much more does it manage to accumulate in the final tally.
