‘Afwaah’, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhumi Pednekar and Sumeet Vyas, released on May 5 and has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from both critics and the audiences. Director Sudhir Mishra has written and directed this movie and it depicts how a vicious rumour created on social media machinery affects people’s lives adversely. Anurag Kashyap, a renowned filmmaker, recently praised ‘Afwaah’ and called it, “a banger of a film.”

Anurag, who has previously collaborated with Sudhir on films such as ‘Tera Kya Hoga Johnny’ (2008), ‘Mumbai Cutting’ (2008) and ‘Daas Dev’ (2018), also stated that he is dedicating his upcoming neo-noir thriller film ‘Kennedy’ to the director. The film, which stars Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone, will be shown as part of the ‘Midnight Screenings’ during the Festival De Cannes 2023, which will take place from May 16 to 27.

Anurag Kashyap took to his Instagram page and wrote, “The original maverick of Hindi cinema, the man I dedicate my next film to @iamsudhirmishra has made a banger of a film. It touches upon, everything that’s wrong with us today, where the social media has brought us. The lies we put out, how it affects all of us and can’t be taken back, the world then has to just breathe in and deal with the consequences. Being a good person and the good person’s silence is not a virtue anymore. Armed with brilliant performances across the board. ‘Afwaah’ has released today in the cinemas and is an absolutely unmissable film. @anubhavsinhaa @bhumipednekar @sumeetvyas @nawazuddin._siddiqui @mrfilmistaani @tjbhanu @eishachopra Very well done . Congratulations.”

Last month when Anurag announced that ‘Kennedy’ will premiere at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Sudhir retweeted the news and wrote, “You can’t keep Kashyap down for long. Our guy is back !!!!.”
