For his upcoming film Rough Book, director Ananth Mahadevan he has shot at real locations as he did not want to compromise on the authenticity of the film. The film was shot at real schools and colleges and not on artificially created sets. The director reveals that even the teachers and students who are seen in the background are from actual classroom sessions that were in progress when they shot the film.

Mahadevan says, “We shot on a real campus in Pune and since we did not want to compromise on the ‘real’ factor, a lot of the scenes that show the classes in progress in the background are all actual shots with real teachers and students.”
