Guess the Midas touch of producer Sajid Nadiadwala is working out again as he is seeing a consistently good opening for each of his films ever since one can remember. His ‘Tamasha’, which is working well with its target audience, especially in the big cities and multiplexes, has enjoyed a good opening weekend of Rs. 382.3 million.

With this, the film has turned out to be the 8th Biggest Opener of 2015, hence going past ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ (Rs. 380 million) and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (Rs. 370 million).

Here are the Top-10 opening weekends of 2015 so far:

‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ – Rs. 1.026 billion
‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ – Rs. 1.0147 billion [4 day weekend]
‘Singh Is Blinng’ – Rs. 544.4 million
‘Brothers’ – Rs. 520.8 million
‘Welcome Back’ – Rs. 510 billion
‘ABCD – Any Body Can Dance – 2’ – Rs. 463.5 million
‘Gabbar Is Back’ – Rs. 400 million
‘Tamasha’ – Rs. 382.3 million
‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ – Rs. 380 million
‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ – Rs. 370 million

What is noticeable is the fact that each of the other films in the list (with an exception of ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’) is an out and out commercial film which was catering to multiplexes as well as single screens. However, for ‘Tamasha’ to find itself at this position, and that too on the sheer power of just multiplexes, is remarkable indeed.

While it has to be seen that how far does ‘Tamasha’ go from this point on, it is rest assured that by the end of the year it would be in the list of Top-10 opening weekends for sure as only two films would go past its weekend total – ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Dilwale’.
