S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ is a larger than life action drama that is full of stupendous action, patriotism and turmoil of emotions. This multi-starrer film has weaved a beautiful story of changing relationship dynamics full of love and purity. The protagonists are full of pride for their motherland and prejudices against one another. Much later, the cloud of misunderstandings fade away and their friendship is strengthened as they get inspired by each other.
Jr NTR and Ram Charan play the role of two revolutionaries with different purposes who end up fighting together for their freedom from British rule. The story is based on historical facts but is completely fictional. The first half of the movie creates the buildup of the story with slow plot developments and a budding suspense. One might even skip searching for some good parts. However, the second half is just brilliant. Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn feature in the later half. Though they have a very little screen time, they have created a huge impact in the story.
The film has a surprising element in the climax. Although after the 2017 hit ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, one would expect more from Rajamouli. However, ‘RRR’ is thoroughly entertaining, full of action and drama.
Jr NTR and Ram Charan deliver outstanding performances throughout. They have fit so well in their characters that it feels real. Their bond is something one would root for. Alike ‘Baahubali’, in this film also one will find heavy action sequences and protagonists tuning together to fight the enemy.
Senthil’s cinematography is outstanding. After the climax, in a sequence when a bullet hits the villain who is a Britisher, drops of blood are splashed on a board written ‘The sun never sets on the British Empire’ which was ironic and captured brilliantly. Another instance where Alia is kicked by a British police officer, the cinematography is so brilliant that it exactly showcases the pain and intensity of the moment.
Although the movie is pulled off until the end because of the star cast, it is a decent watch if one wishes to be entertained or is looking for a movie to watch with family.
