5 films that made our 2020 better

The coronavirus pandemic affected the release of many films in theatres but that didn’t prevent films from releasing on OTT platforms. Here’s a short list of five films that deserve a mention.

1. Lootcase
Rajesh Krishnan’s brilliant piece of work in ‘Lootcase’ displays an exemplary journey of a man who finds a red suitcase full of money that changes his life. The movie has been co-written, directed by Rajesh Krishnan. The movie has been produced by Soda Films and FoxStar Studios and stars Kunaal Kemmu, Gajraj Rao, Rasika Duggal, Vijay Raj, Ranvir Shorey in pivotal roles. ‘Lootcase’ was Rajesh Krishnan’s first stint as a director that went onto garner loads of appreciation from critics as well as the masses.

2. Cargo
‘Cargo’ is another great piece of art that 2020 gave us. The film revolves around a spaceship where souls of the deceased are readied for reincarnation, a lone crew member’s rigid existence is disrupted by a spry new assistant. The movie has been directed by Arati Kadav and produced by Navin Shetty, Shlok Sharma Arati Kadav and Anurag Kashyap.

3. Sir
‘Sir’ is a subtle, heart touching movie that displays raw human emotions. Written by Rohena Gera and produced by Brice Poisson and Rohena Gera, the movie revolves around an optimistic and determined young woman from a remote village starts her new job as a live-in maid for the cynical son of a wealthy family. They eventually fall in love, but find their relationship forbidden. It stars Tillotama Shome and Vivek Gomber in pivotal roles.

4. Thappad
‘Thappad’ was an eye opener for many who were tied to patriarchal roots. Written by Anubhav Singa and Mrunmayee Lagoo, the movie revolves around Amrita whose seemingly perfect life is shattered when her husband slaps her once in a party. The movie stars Taapsee Pannu, Pavail Gulati, Kumud Mishra and Ratna Pathak Shah in pivotal roles.

5. Panga
‘Panga’ was largely based upon women empowerment. Written by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, Nitesh Tiwari, Nikhil Mehrotra and Amit Joshi, the movie revolves around the life of a national level Kabbadi player from India. It follows her triumphs, struggle and overcoming of stereotypes. It shows how important the love and support of your family is for you to be successful. The movie stars Kangana Ranaut, Jassie Gill and Neena Gupta in pivotal roles.
