Finally it would be D-Day for the team of ‘Welcome Back’. In news for a couple of years ever since the film went on floors, there have been talks around its release for a year now. However, now that it is all set to release this Friday, it is big and with style. From its promo to marketing to publicity to release, no expense has been spared to make it come across as an event affair. With Firoz Nadiadwala and Eros coming together, the film has been pitched perfectly well.

What is further aiding the film in a big way is the franchise quotient. Even though it has been almost eight years since Welcome (2007) released, the film is still fresh in the audience’s memory. Yes, Akshay Kumar doesn’t feature in the sequel, which is a factor that cannot be ignored, but with Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar continuing with the show and John Abraham stepping in, director Anees Bazmee has managed to keep the show big enough.

All of this means that the biggie would see a good opening at the box office and since the release is big, even with a 40% opening at an average, Friday collections to the tune of Rs. 10-12 crore (Rs. 100-120 million) are pretty much on the cards. Since the film caters to the family audience, the film is bound to grow well on Saturday and Sunday. However, it would have to stay very consistent right through as it is a big budget affair that needs good collections for at least a two week run.
