Priyanka Chopra’s much publicized move by dropping out of ‘Bharat’ at the eleventh hour for whatever reason has been the talk of the town for a while now. At the trailer launch of ‘Loveratri’, Salman Khan did not express his real feelings about this move, when asked by a reporter and briefly said that he has been busy with a lot of things and is not reading the paper, and will call back the reporter when he reads the paper!

Why is ‘Bharat’ so important?

‘Bharat’ is a big film which starts from India’s pre-partition and tells a story in a period of fifty years. It is an official adaptation of a 2014 South Korean film ‘Ode To My Father’. The first schedule of the film has been wrapped up as at today. The next schedule will be shot in Malta. ‘Bharat’ stars Salman Khan, Jackie Shroff, Tabu, Disha Patani and Sunil Grover. The film is an emotional saga about relationships and is very special to Salman Khan. It is one of the biggest films releasing next year. He will be playing a character aging from 21 to 65 in the film. After delivering powerful emotional scenes in ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ and ‘Sultan’, more is expected from him.

Was Priyanka Chopra a good fit for this role?

According to various reports, it was Priyanka Chopra, who wanted to be part of this film. It was initially planned for Katrina Kaif. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif were last seen in ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. To pull bigger crowds, the makers thought a fresh pair would be better. Priyanka worked with Salman ten years ago in ‘God Tussi Great Ho’. Priyanka Chopra’s star value saw a big jump after her stint in Hollywood and she has been constantly in the news after her engagement to Nick Jonas. ‘Bharat’ requires a good actress and the combination of Salman-Priyanka seemed fantastic on paper!

Is Katrina Kaif the best fit for ‘Bharat’?

Katrina Kaif has been signed and she was the original choice. After working with Ali Abbas Zafar in his debut film ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ and then ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, there is no doubt that they both share a certain working relationship, which can positively work in favour of ‘Bharat’.

Was there a clash between Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra?

Yes, there is a clash but it is related to their thinking process! In the past, it has been reported that Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra never shared good relations, despite doing a few films together. It is more of old school versus new school. Of course, Salman Khan’s ego has been bruised after this sudden move, but he has matured over the years, not to express it publicly! Witty answers are just publicity stunts!

So, was Priyanka unprofessional?

Priyanka Chopra has reportedly bagged the role as the female lead opposite Hollywood actor Chris Pratt, in the upcoming movie ‘Cowboy Ninja Viking’. To be directed by ‘Game Of Thrones’ fame Michelle MacLaren, the movie is being produced by Universal. Actors do leave films after signing it but doing it at last moment is the most unprofessional thing to do. Indian filmmakers and producers still work on the basis of relationships with actors than complete professionalism. The big corporations have not changed this situation as such. Actors in the film industry will need to understand their commitments after signing it and it is more important than the character they play. Many times, actors know their film is not going anywhere during the making and film will flop at the box office but they continue with same energy and act as complete professionals to finish and market the film.

Priyanka Chopra has disappointed a lot of people with her decision to drop out, even though we all know that it is not easy to bag a Hollywood movie. Can she do the same thing in Hollywood? We talk of nepotism in Bollywood but the industry has also supported talented outsiders as well. Priyanka Chopra is a prime example; she has taken her success for granted.
