“Truly a megastar not just in Malayalam, but in Indian cinema”, Karan Johar heaps praises on Prthiviraj Sukumaran

Sukumaran is unquestionably continuing down the same path with his back-to-back projects this year after concluding the year 2022 on a strong note with ‘Kaapa’. Prithviraj is now all set to begin 2023 with a bang with his debut production ‘Selfiee’ which start Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. The film is the Hindi remake of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s 2019 super hit ‘Driving License’.

Addressing the actor turned producer as a star, friend and colleague, Karan Johar applauded Prithviraj for showing faith in him to take the story of ‘Driving Licence’ and expressed, “The idea to collaborate with him just seemed liked the most exciting because I have such tremendous regard for this megastar, not just in Malyalam cinema but in Indian cinema who came on board with us as a producer and has been the most amazing positive energy for us.”

‘Driving Licence’ is definitely Prithviraj’s baby and the production is thrilled to entrust it in the capable hands of director Raj Mehta, who is ready to take the audience on a roller-coaster ride of emotions with such a promising film. ‘Selfiee’ is set to release on the February 24, 2023.

Prithviraj Sukumaran will will next be seen in ‘Salaar’ with director Prashant Neel, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ with Ali Abbas Zafar. Lastly, his directorial venture ‘L2: Empuraan’ starring Mohanlal is also lined up.
