After making her Hindi film debut last year with ‘Mastram’, Tara Alisha Berry will be seen in two films, ‘Gun Pe Done’ and ‘The Perfect Girl’, this year. But, before you see her back on the silver screen, you could watch the actress in Anurag Basu’s adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s classic novel ‘Chokher Bali’. The telefilm, which will be the first of the many episodes under the umbrella show ‘Stories By Rabindranath Tagore’, will be telecast on The EPIC Channel.

Talking about her character Ashalata, she says “She is a naive, innocent young woman who is very submissive. Nobody takes her seriously or gives any importance to her because of her inability to read and write. She comes across this woman called Binodini (Radhika Apte) and finds a friend in her. Being with her makes her feel happy and important as an individual. However, the same woman betrays her when she has an affair with her husband.”

The actress cherishes every moment spent on the sets of the telefilm what with working with Anurag Basu being a long-standing dream for her.

“I have admired him right from his early days when he made films like ‘Murder’ and ‘Gangster’. Dada (Anurag Basu) directed the first episode and also handled the camerawork. He is one of those directors you can completely surrender to. You do not have to think or worry about anything as he is always in charge of everything. He is very astute and intuitive as a director. He never gives you a bound script. Sometimes, he would brief us about a scene a few minutes before it was to be shot. He expects his actors to be spontaneous and react to situations naturally.”

‘Chokher Bali’, produced by Ishana Movies, premieres on July 6, 2015 at 10pm on The EPIC Channel.
