Actor Steve Carell played the role of Mitch Kessler in the series from season 1 to 2. In the seventh episode of the 2nd season it’s been shown the death by suicide of Mitch Kessler character as he lets his car fall off the cliff and dies. And for this Steve Carell has to leave the show. In the whole series Steve Carell’s role as Mitch Kessler serves a very prominent part. He stole every scenes whenever he appeared.

The reason behind why the makers decided to end Steve Carell’s character is because Mitch Kessler represents a very controversial character. Since the beginning of the series ‘The Morning Show’ Mitch Kessler establishes a chauvinist backdated man’s character and a question arose what our society ought to do with men who have done wrong things endlessly.

In an interview talking about Mitch Kessler’s death, Jennifer Aniston stated that it’s heartbreaking. She said, “It’s one of the many things that lead her to the brutal reality and facing who she is and who she refuses to actually be, because their last conversation is so poignant.” The showrunner of the series Kerry Ethrin said Mitch Kessler’s contribution in the series was too much exhausting and so they had to end the character. She also said it was also Steve Carell’s idea to end the character Mitch Kessler.
