Sidharth Malhotra to play Army Captain Vikram Batra in Shershaah

Sidharth Malhotra is coming up with his new movie on Amazon Prime called ‘Shershaah’. It is a biographical war film portrayed on the life of Army Captain Vikram Batra, who received a ‘Param Vir Chakra’ award, which is India’s highest and most prestigious award for valour. In the movie, Sidharth Malhotra is playing a double role of Vikram Batra itself and his twin brother Vishal Batra. The movie also stars Kiara Advani who is playing Vikram’s fiancée, Dimple Cheema.

The film is directed by Vishnuvardhan and this is his first Hindi film debut. Karan Johar as the co-producer of this film announced in 2018 that he will be doing a biopic on Vikram Batra. The shooting of this movie initially started in 2019 but due to the pandemic, it got extended and now it will be releasing on 12th August 2021. The name of the movie ‘Shershaah’ was also given after Vikram Batra. He was often associated with the name ‘Sher Shah’ (Lion King) in the seized messages of the Pakistan Army. It was apparently his code name.

The ‘Kapoor and Son’s’ (2016) actor tweeted about his upcoming movie with a very intense poster and also revealed that the movie trailer will be out on 25th July 2021. Sidharth also said that how great of a person Vikram Batra was and did everything possible for India.
