Sherni Quick Movie Review

The story of ‘Sherni’ makes it a different type of film as the storyline is very simple, yet a complex matter. It’s a man versus wild life and their survival. Vidya Vincent (Vidya Balan) plays here as a committed forest officer, who hasn’t got a promotion in nine years and after six years her new position in forest of Bijaspur comes out with new challenges. Over a video call, Vidya hints to her husband Pawan (Mukul Chaddha) that she feels no growth here in the forest and might resign after getting her long-craved position. The actress in this movie battles the social barriers set by the patriarchal society and misogynist attitude within her department. Vidya Balan’s strong character as Vidya Vincent will impress netizens a lot. After delivering films like ‘The Dirty Picture’ (2011), ‘Kahaani’ (2012), and ‘No One Killed Jessica’ (2011), Vidya Balan has roared again with ‘Sherni’. Along with Vidya Balan, ‘Sherni’ includes other actors like Neeraj Kabi, Vijay Raaz, Sharat Saxena, Mukul Chaddha, Brijendra Kala and Ila Arun in supporting roles. The film deals with a sensitive topic that touches respect, mutual understanding, co-existence not just between man and animal, but also between humans as well. ‘Sherni’ is the latest film to put a woman in the forefront and follow her struggles.

‘Sherni’ released on 18th June, 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.
