Raju Shrivastava passes away; India loses a glowing comedy star

Raju Shrivastava, the popular comedian, took his last breath today, on September 21, 2022 at the age of 58 after battling for life for 41 days. He was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi on August 10, 2022 due to a heart attack. While working out on treadmill, Shrivastava complained of severe chest pain at the gym. He was rushed to hospital and had underwent angioplasty surgery the same day.

Just few days back his brother, Dipoo Shrivastava, had informed that he was recovering slowly, “The recovery is slow. He will be fine soon. He is stable and on a ventilator. He is still unconscious. It’s been 35 days but doctors are saying they are doing their best. We need all your prayers.”

A few days ago, Raju Shrivastava’s brother-in-law, Ashish Shrivastava, had said, “Raju Srivastava had a heart attack while going to the gym. He was staying in Delhi to meet some of the big leaders of the state. He went to the gym in the morning and then went to another gym that day. During the same time, he got a heart attack. He has been admitted to AIIMS. But he is back under control. After 5 minutes, the doctors allowed the relatives to meet his grandfather. Only after meeting him, they will be able to give rest of the information.”

While admitted and struggling with the heart attack, Raju had also suffered severe brain damage. He was put on ventilation all these tough days and was getting treatment by a cardiac team, which was led by Dr. Nitish Nyay.

Raju Shrivastava worked in the Bollywood industry for a long time. He had started working with small roles in films like ‘Maine Pyaar Kiya’ (1989), ‘Baazigar’ (1993), ‘Amdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupiya’ (2001), ‘Bombay To Goa’ (2007), etc. Raju became a household name after he made his debut as a comedian in 2005 with ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ show, where he became the second runner-up. Later he also took part in the spin-off, ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge – Champions’ and won the title of ‘The King of Comedy’.

As the news of spread, netizens as well as significant personalities of Bollywood mourned the death of Raju Shrivastava on social media.
