Now, it’s been reported that Priyanka will be seen with Mindy Kaling in a rom-com, where she will be playing the role of a Punjabi woman and the news is making quite a stir on social media. The duo will be collaborating for the first time. It’s been reported that Priyanka and Mindy will be playing the role of cousins and the movie’s story revolves around a big fat Indian wedding.
Mindy Kaling, who is an Indian-American writer-comedian-actor-producer-director, has given several notable works in Hollywood like ‘The Office’ (2005-2013), ‘Inside Out’ (2015), ‘Ocean’s 8’ (2018), ‘Never Have I Ever’ (2020) and is best known for ‘The Mindy Project’ (2012-2017). We have got to know that Mindy has also co-written this yet-to-be-titled upcoming rom-com project.
Recently in an interview with Forbes, Mindy shared, “We are really proud of it, we show South Asian Americans that are from South India. Then we show a Muslim Indian girl. Culturally we see how they’re different from each other. The Asian experience is not a monolith. Why would people necessarily know that if they don’t have shows that explain and explore that difference?”
“I have this movie with Priyanka Chopra, she’s Punjabi Indian from India and I’m an Indian American Bengali girl form the East Coast. It’s so different and that’s what makes our dynamic so fun together”, Mindy further continued.
We have also got to know that Priyanka’s love for India made Mindy influenced so good that Priyanka’s character will also show different cultures of India.
