It feels incredible when you realise that a composer who started his career in the mid-70s is still relevant and creating music that is striking a chord with the listeners. Just last year, Anu Malik created quite a popular soundtrack for Yash Raj Films’ ‘Sui Dhaaga’. This is right before he got embroiled in the controversies surrounding the MeToo movement.
The composer is back on the music scene with a single titled ‘Monday’. While people usually talk about Monday blues and why one does not look forward to the first working day of the week, here is Anu talking about why he actually looks forward to Mondays and detest Sundays!
Though the track is layered with electronic beats and has rap portions written and performed by Parry G, if you listen carefully to the basic tune, you will realise that it has a retro vibe to it. Though the sound is new, the basic composition reminds you of a couple of songs Malik has composed years back.
