Mohammad Riaz, renowned Hindi film producer, passes away at 74

One of the most celebrated Hindi film producer in the ‘70s and ‘80s era, Mohammad Riaz passed away yesterday evening, May 21 at the age of 74 due to old age issues. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital for past few days and that’s where he breathed his last.

Born in Calcutta, Riaz had shifted to Mumbai to pursue his career in the film industry. Later Mohammad Riaz and his brother-in-law, Mushir Alam, who was also a producer, both founded the Mushir Riaz Productions together. Mushir Alam had also passed away 3 years ago.

Mohammed Riaz and Mushir Riaz had given numerous blockbuster hits under the production banner in the ‘70s to ‘90s, which include ‘Safar’ (1970), ‘Mehbooba’ (1976), ‘Bairaag’ (1976), ‘Apne Paraye’ (1980), ‘Rajput’ (1982), ‘Shakti’ (1982), ‘Zabardast’ (1985), ‘Samundar’ (1986), ‘Commando’ (1988), ‘Akayla’ (1991), ‘Virasat’ (1997) and many more.
