Neeraj Pandey’s ‘M.S Dhoni The Untold Story’ released a year back and managed to woo critics and audiences alike. While the film gave Sushant Singh Rajput, who portrayed the titular character, his first 100 crore hit, it also brought in a lot of accolades for Kiara Advani, who played Sakshi, Dhoni’s better half. Despite having a relatively shorter screen time in the three hour long film, Kiara left a strong mark with her portrayal of a young, modern woman who falls in love with a rising cricketing star and is grappling with the perks and perils that comes while being in love with a public figure. The audience warmed up to her performance and the critics, too, had some positive things to say about the performance. The actress recently posted snapshots and video clips from her favourite scene from the film on social media.

As Salman Khan got to know that Alia Advani, daughter to his family friends, is gearing for her Bollywood debut, she rechristened her as Kiara Advani. He felt that as there was already an Alia (Bhatt) in the industry, she should have a unique which people can identify her with. Salman made a cameo appearance in a song in Kiara’s debut film ‘Fugly’ along with Akshay Kumar, who was one of the producers of the film.

Kiara’s turn as the feisty yet vulnerable Devi in the Kabir Sadanand directed affair was lauded by those who saw the film but the film failed to make much of a noise at the box-office. Over the next year and a half, one heard the young actress’ name associated with different projects but she chose to bid her time and reappeared on the screen almost two years later with ‘M.S Dhoni The Untold Story.’ The wait turned out to be fruitful as the film was a major commercial success and earned Kiara a significant place in the realm of the Hindi film industry.

Advani was seen earlier this year in Abbas-Mustan’s thriller ‘Machine’. The film did not create any ripple at the box-office but the song “Cheez Badi”, a rehashed version of “Tu Cheez Badi Hai” (‘Mohra’) turned out to be a massive hit. The signature step became quite popular with the young mass and Kiara was seen grooving to the number at several events and award functions.

There is no official confirmation on whether she has signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next production with Shahid Kapoor but what one knows is that she has finished shooting for a large portion of ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’, her debut Telugu film which has her paired opposite south superstar Mahesh Babu. It has been a year since ‘M.S Dhoni The Untold Story’ but the actress continues to get love for her performance on social media. Apart from that, her dancing prowess as seen in “Cheez Badi” and her impeccable fashion sense has kept her in the limelight. One hopes her next release ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’, due on January 11 next year, gives her many more reasons to cheer about.
