Jug Jugg Jeeyo Movie Review

The complexities of relationships are not easy to solve. The film ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’ gives us the lesson that every problem can be solved through effective communcation.

Anil Kapoor and Neetu Singh fill the film with emotions. They are the throbbing heart of this movie. Raj Mehta’s family drama evokes a series of emotions and focuses on every relationship of life.

The lack of transparency and communication between a couple can mess up their lives, be it a 35 year old marriage or a teen relationship or a childhood love affair. Love is not enough, it never is and this movie is yet another example of it. Respect and compatibility are two essential elements for a relationship to survive. There is nothing called an ideal marriage or relationship, it’s the people who nurture it to make it one.

The movie also showcases male privileged society and their ego. Varun Dhawan could never accept Kiara Advani’s success and moving to a different land was a huge thing for him, whereas things wouldn’t make any difference if this were the other way round. Neetu Singh takes care of a husband who lied and cheated on her even when he doesn’t regret it a bit. PrajaktaKoli is to get married to a well settled man but no one talks about her career and ambitions.

Manish Paul provides comic relief in the film and triggers laughter. The movie is comic at certain places and is full of fun and songs. The soundtrack is another USP of the film.

The movie also shows female kinship through the characters of Naina aka Kiara and Geeta aka Neetu. They indulge in a conversation where they share their sacrifices and decisions over wine and how love seemed to dry up in their respective marriages. They not only support each other but understand what the other person is going through.

The second half of the film evokes many emotions in us. However the ending seems hazy. We never know what is in store for Anil and Neetu. It seemed as if Varun and Kiara were the centre of attention and the other characters were simply sidelined. Overall the movie is a family entertainer but it isn’t as huge as it seemed to be.

Jug Jugg Jeeyo is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
